This is a fascinating and educational museum which takes you from the battles at Lexington and Concord to the victorious siege of Yorktown and the surrender of the British General Cornwalis. The artifacts from the period include paintings, weapons, furniture, and home furnishings. Allow at least three hours to see the museum and watch the several movies. If you wish,... More

Having visited the Yorktown Victory Center a couple of times through the years we expected a nice couple hour visit to this new museum...boy was that wrong! The American Revolution Museum opened shortly before our visit and it was fantastic! The displays are very interesting but what makes the place so great are the various short films and a presentation... More

My children, ages 10 and 14 were fascinated. I learned a great deal too!! The battlefield encampment will be great when finished.

There has been a museum here for along time, you can still see the old entrance sign behind the new one. But switching the concept from exhibits on the Battle of Yorktown to encompassing the entire revolutionary war era was inspired. Exhibits include the precursers, such as a typical street scene in England, the colonial settlements, French and Indian War,... More

The museum has recently undergone a complete rehab and expansion. The results are impressive as the museum offers a complete and informative account of the revolution from 1775 to 1781. Allow yourself at least two hours to take everything in.

This museum is 90% complete, with only the outdoor battlements left to be finished. It's focus is not solely on the siege of Yorktown, but on the events leading up to the Revolutionary War, and those which happened as a result of the Colonial Victory. It's got a lot of cool artifacts to see, some digital colonists to speak to... More

Would have given this a five star rating except for the fact that the outside area wasn't quite finished. Other than that the inside museum was spectacular. See this before visiting the battlefield park. Good representation of Yorktown during the revolutionary period.

I am a Yorktown resident and I am very proud of this museum. It's a great museum. It has a lot of very different sections, make sure you don't miss any of them. Outdoors and indoors. Inauguration is next year, but still lots to see.

When we visiting, the museum was in the middle of a transition and not everything was open yet. The actual museum was not yet open, just a few features instead and the recreation of an army encampment outside. They were literally building an addition onto the outside feature while we were visiting. We did enjoy the outside army camp actors,... More

The American Revolution Museum is one of or must-see places during our visits to the area. The museum is above and beyond and delivers such an experience that one must see. However, the best part for both me and my children is the living encampment. The set-up and staff do an awesome job of getting one into the period frame... More
