This place is really worth a stop. It is not a big museum, its actually the first floor of the building, but it shows so many interesting facts about the history of the evolution of ships, since the colonization years until now. The museum even smells like old and makes you feel like you are inside the stories you are... More

We wanted to visit because this place was listed in the AAA Tour Guide book, but we found it to be limited. One advantage is the low admission fee, but we had no tour guides or anyone to provide expert opinion. My dad did enjoy talking to the volunteer working on one of the small model ships that are exhibited... More

We recently took our Rotary Club on a "field trip" to the Watermen's Museum and were unanimously impressed. Mike the museum director was very knowledgeable and excited about the breadth of history related to "people who work on the water". We covered everybody from the Powhatan Indians to pirates to Cornwallis to fishermen to the US Coast Guard. The museum... More

The museum has a lot of history...lots of model boats and displays. The host of the museum was very nice and gave us a guided tour as we went from one room to another, and she showed us a video on the seafood industry years ago and how it has progressed.

It was OK for the price. A guide was rude. Another wasn't very knowledgable. The outside exhibits seemed cluttered and falling apart.
