This place is really cool, it has lots of trails that go to beaches and also a little mini museum with a video about Hernando De Soto.

This is a great place to take a walk along the water or any of the many paths marked with some history about the De Soto landing. You can bring your dogs and pack a lunch for a nice day and maybe even bring some fishing poles cause there are a few places you can just walk out into the... More

We have been visiting DeSoto National Memorial for many years. Sometimes to attend one of the special presentations about the history of the memorial by Park Rangers, or just to walk the trails and enjoy some of Florida's original landscapes or to bring our dog to run and play in the water. The trails are well marked and signs sharing... More

This site offers a really interesting way to learn about a not-so-proud chapter in Florida history, the explorations of Hernando De Soto. There's a very good film and during the winter months they have a camp with interpreters who show you tools, weapons and the like used by both the Spaniards and the native Americans. You can try on the... More

This is a perfect place for both children and adult visitors. History buffs will love the authentic demonstrations of De Soto's first winter camp. The kids and adults love the "hands on" access to real chain mail, armor and early weapons. A beautiful setting for a solitary walk, a quiet view of the mouth of the Manatee River or enjoying... Just love to walk at sunrise and catch the breathtaking Bay views along with the sights and sounds of nature. Benches along the way make for a sweet spot to just sit and reflect or talk with your sweetie.

Really a great spot to visit and learn more about an important Spanish explorer. The trails and displays are very well done and Desoto point provides a beautiful seaside view on the Manatee River and looking west is the Gulf of Mexico.

Just finished having a picnic with my wife and our dog on the white sandy trail overlooking the boats going by on the Manatee River. Be sure to snap a photo or two for the memories. Beautiful!
