Our RV caravan from Death Valley stopped here to tour this remarkable Opera House. Sadly, we learned that Marta Becket has passed away. Our leader got us our tickets for the tour of this unique one of a kind Opera House that Marta Becket loved and painted herself. It is obvious the opera house was taken care of by a... More

What a surprise Marta Beckett created for generations to enjoy in this unlikely place. Her story is fascinating as are the beautiful and colorful paintings on every surface of the Opera House. Marta was a professional ballerina who retired to Death Valley. When she bought the Opera House as a venue for her talent but failed to attract an audience... More

The Amargosa Opera House is not for those who require all the luxuries of home. The bed was comfortable and the room had everything I needed, except an outlet for my CPAP. The building is a white oasis in the middle of nowhere, on the way to Pahrump (east) or Death Valley Junction (west). There's a large friendly cat who... More

This place is cool. Before going I read a couple reviews about it needing renovation but I disagree. That's the charm. It has a warm feel to it and it was perfect for what we wanted. It's also very inexpensive. The staff was friendly and helpful. Read up on it before you go, maybe the staff will share a couple... More

An interesting story about a stranded ballet dancer and her theatre where she painted an audience into her often empty hall. The whole place could use a coat of paint and TLC. The guide was nice and allowed us time to look around. Worth the $5 charge for the experience.

You need to go to hotel office were for $5 a person they take you into the opera house and recount the history up to the present. Spend some time with guide and heard some interesting history of old miners and such. This included ghost tales which our teenager really enjoyed. Well worth the time and money. Would have liked... Ok, lots of different opinions in our group of 2 60 year olds and their 3 adult children. 1 60 year old found the beds uncomfortable, the air cold, and the cracks in the wall not very endearing. One 20 something agreed with me. The other three found the place charming but creepy. We did like the fireplace, the ability... More

Do stop by and see this unique opera house....it has lots of interesting rooms handpainted by the ballet dancer Marta. Go to the office for the tour....it is $5 but worth it.... Enjoy.
