The Mammoth Lakes Welcome Center specializes in providing general information about the Inyo National Forest and surrounding local areas. Stop in for maps of the area and suggestions on great places to hike, camp and visit. The center provides campfire permits, wooding permits, and backpacking permits for those looking to begin a trip in the Inyo National Forest backcountry. There are also many fantastic interpretive program opportunities available through the center. A great first stop for a trip to Mammoth. If you are looking for souvenirs, there are many fun items for sale in the center including books, maps, hats, bandanas, t-shirts, and lots of other souvenirs. The Mammoth Lakes Welcome Center is managed through a partnership with the US Forest Service and the Eastern Sierra Interpretive Association.

So much information! Grab books and maps or buy some gifts. The line for information was quite long, but they kept it moving quickly.

We visited last year about the same time and the staff were very helpful, showing us many hikes around the area and places to visit that were perfect for us. This year we got a young woman who obviously doesn't like her job. Ripped off...More

Good information provided by rangers and staff. Good gift shopping as well. Got great hidden gem suggestions for hikes in the area.

Very friendly rangers providing excellent info on what to do in the area. Not a wealth of things to do at this particular visitor's center but highly recommend to get the updated info on the many attractions in the area.

Visiting this Welcome Center was a good move. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The good offered for sale were of good quality and useful. Beautiful building.

Very nice Welcome center. Gift shop is nice, staff is very friendly. They were able to tell us which hiking trails were opened and which were still snow covered. Parking is abundant, well maintained facility

Useful place to start before heading up to Mammoth Lakes. Staff really helpful in the visitor centre with good selection of equipment, brochures and books on sale too.

Check out Rafters Restaurant Thursday Friday Saturday Also some cafes in town like Stellar Brew and East Side Bakery have music sometimes
