There are great fall color opportunities along McGee Creek Rd and at the McGee Creek Trail Head. McGee Creek Rd is a good paved road until you reach the Pack station at which point it is a graded gravel road for approximately one half mile to the Trail Head parking area, accessible by a regular passenger car. There are a... More

We have done this hike at least 4 times. It is one of our favorites in the Mammoth area. There is very little shade but spectacular views. Gorgeous aspen color in the fall, really rivers of gold. In July, abundant wildflowers. We counted over 18 kinds. The creek adjacent to the trail makes a lovely sound during the hike. Several... More

Great little sun-shaded picnic tables with mountain view. Day use discouraged but we were off season and it was deserted so no problem for a picnic. The RV section at the highway looked a bit ramshackle.

Take McGee Creek Road, which is near Crowley Lake, to the parking lot at the end of the road after passing the McGee Creek Pack Station. Beautiful fall hike sometimes going along a beautiful stream and ending at a small beaver pond reflecting fall foliage. Much of hike there is uphill, but not steep.

A beautiful place. Several beaver dams along the creek. Shallow in lots of places but several pools looked good for fishing. We saw DFG stock with 50lbs of rainbow trout while we were there. Very cool to watch. Still couldn't catch anything! LOL Wildflowers weren't at their peak end of July when I was there but still lots of flowers,... More

The Eastern Sierras have over the years become a favorite autumn destination for me. There are many little and larger canyons you can easily reach from highway 395. Mc Gee Creek's Canyon is one of those. You don't have to drive in very far to see awesome displays of yellow, orange, and red leaves. In many spots when you turn... More

The lodge at the creek is great for baked goods and coffee . The quiches loooked good but breakfast was too close in the past. I plan to stay in the winter during desert exploring
