It was our first trip to Philadelphia, and local friends strongly suggested a walk down South Street. And we did enjoy it, but be prepared...some parts of it are very much "in transition", and there are some definite reminders of how, let's say disreputable, at...More

This *the* street for art and nightlife. Enjoy the magic gardens of Philadelphia, the street art and walk all the way to Penn Landing. For the art lovers there is a lot to see, everywhere!

Nice place but make sure your going somewhere they have a bathroom. Because they frown on you have to go. Other that had fun lots to see & do. Use Park Wiz for parking or go after 6pm on the weekend it’s cheaper.

South St was the first we encountered in Philly, as we just got off the I-95 from DC heading to Jim's Steaks. Luckily, we found a parking place, so after dinner decided to explore the area. It's a nice neighborhood, with old British style brick...More

This was once a pretty good bohemian experience, but that was some time ago. It is still a neighborhood jammed with shops, restaurants, bars etc. and the crowds make it a fairly safe venue. The crowds also make it crowded and busy and the parking...More

Lots of shops and restaurants in this area. Good for exploring but not very many true tourist destinations in this area.

Fun night life in Philly! It has tons of bars and restaurants! A lot of shopping stores too. We feel safe when we were walking down in South Street, because there were group of police men watching the crowd. It was fun! Great night out...More

Back when, I vaguely remember the clubs and late nights and all the 60's stars here. I drove down from the Bronx (NY) early in the morning of my 18th birthday!! It's still fun here but I definitely missed the old vibe

My wife and I took a stroll down south street. It was a nice night out with warm temps which made it a great night for people watching!

Haven't been to south street in many years, as it has gone through its lows. Seems like things are on the upswing with interesting shops, restaurants and bars. Still a little dodgy in areas. Yet potential for a great improvement. Saw tourists and locals which...More

The South Street is not just a street, it's a promenade sight... There are many hotels near-by it. And all of them are rather good, and classy. I would prefer these among others: Alexander Inn, Morris House Hotel... More
