Nice neighborhood for a walk

A very nice neighborhood with cobblestone streets, row houses, cafes and shops. Just few blocks away from Old City.

This is the old, ritzy part of Philly. We walked around here and got a feel for what it would be like to have money. It is a nice place to stroll and dream about owning a house there.

We enjoyed walking around Society Hill at night. There is a lot to see - cafes, shops, people, old houses. But it was really hard to find a parking space. The parking garages are very expensive, but otherwise you will be cruising around looking for a spot.

This was a stop along our self-guided walking tour through the city. A lot of history there and cobblestone streets.

Perfect for a romantic stroll, tree lined small streets and old colonial brick with different shutter colors makes this a wonderful place to enjoy. Take a carriage ride through here, then walk it for the best of all worlds.

"Society" refers to various groups or companies, such as the Carpenters (a guild), not to "high society", although now the area has plenty of the latter and none of the former! Interesting residential area, some restaurants, close to the river (but separated by the Interstate). Convenient to the historical areas (Independence Hall, etc.). Worth a long stroll to get a... Society Hill is a great place to go for a walk, surrounded by historic houses and trees. It is a very historic area, being home to many Founding Fathers, including James Madison.

Near the old city area, or a part of it, depending who you ask. The exact location of what constitutes Society Hill are a subject of debate. Most agree it is roughly from the river to 6th St. and Locust to Bambridge Sts..(or thereabout}). Mostly redeveloped and gentrified it still boasts interesting architecture, many small restaurants and cafes, some art... More

Lafferty's Wake, at Society Hilll Playhouse = Delightful! The exuberant and talented cast and the perfect atmosphere made for a totally enjoyable, interactive experience. I highly recommend Lafferty's Wake. I guarantee it'll be the most fun you'll ever have in the same room with a coffin!

At the heart of the movement to preserve and restore historic residential Philly, Society Hill provides an easy place in which to stroll and soak up the atmosphere.
