Yesterday our travel club had the opportunity to do this tour. Our two guides were extremely knowledgeable and gave us extensive history of each mural we saw. The murals were beautiful and each one had an interesting history of who painted them and how it was done. The history of each was amazing. What was disappointing is we only got... More

I knew I wanted us (family of four) to do a Mural Arts tour as Philadelphia is famous for its murals, but wow did we get lucky. It was a bitterly cold day and Tish, our phenomenal guide, kept us moving and as warm as possible. Tish also made a point of talking with us (my family) and the sole... More

Our first time using the Mural Arts tour. What a great time. We chose a trolley tour. Great visibility. A fantastic driver and a superb guide. Ellen seemed knowledgeable beyond any expectations. We will definitly do another of the tours another time.

We took the Love Letters tour offered by the Mural Arts Program. The Love Letters were conceived by a single artist, being a series of witty love notes on murals visible from a ride on the l-train, with content linked to the locations. In addition to those visible in transit, a number can be viewed more carefully at stops along... More

Philadelphia had over 4,000 wall murals--more than any other city in the world. The Mural Arts Program runs regular bus/trolley tours with well-informed guides. Three of us went on a two-hour tour covering the western portion of north and west Philadelphia. Our guide was greatly engaging and informative. Tourists and locals alike would find these tours a wonderful thing to... More

I was in Philadelphia for a meeting. One of the organizers offered us a chance to go on a walking tour of the murals in a particular neighborhood. We had a fabulous young guide who was very knowledgeable, brought it all alive and had a great historic sense. The murals were incredible. Many of them reflected social activism, some were... More

We went on a Mural Arts Trolley Tour one hot Saturday in August. The trolley was fine until the AirCon broke down. The driver was excellent; the tour guide was somewhat underwhelming: lack of knowledge, and belaboured only the points about which she knew. I would recommend the trolley tour though as it covered a wide range of the city,... More

Visiting some of these murals was one of the most visceral experiences I have had. It moved me to tears. The art work is nothing short of amazing, and the messages they contain are so moving, indicating that art was their way to reintegration into society. A must see if you are in Philadelphia.

We took the Mural Arts Masterpieces Tour-West on a Saturday morning. The selection of murals seen on this particular tour are true masterpieces with messages and lessons for everyone in the community to enjoy and learn from over and over again. We are native Philadelphians ( and proud of it!), but this tour went through sections of the city we... More
