The Battle of Gettysburg was a turning point in the Civil War, the Union victory that ended General Robert E. Lee's second and most ambitious invasion of the North. Often referred to as the "High Water Mark of the Rebellion", Gettysburg was the Civil War's bloodiest battle and was also the inspiration for President Abraham Lincoln's immortal "Gettysburg Address".

We bought the auto tour and it consists of 17 stops with 3 to 20 minute audios at each stop. There is a companion book that has pictures and maps of the participants in each part of the battle. There are three days of presentation...More

We think the best way to see the park is to take the self-guided Auto Tour. You can find a map at any Visitor's Center (or possibly at your overnight accommodations) to the 16 stops of importance. Along the way are several monuments from all...More

We drove our car and did the self-guided tour. It is VERY well marked and easy to follow. There are statues EVERYWHERE, many dedicated to various regiments that fought in the battle. The driving path cuts right through the town, so it's also easy to...More

Wonderful experience for any history nut. The park is large and requires a full day to see it all but you can come and go at your leisure.

We spent a day here, and we understand why people plan longer visits. The wonderful Visitors Center could take a day itself if one saw the whole museum. Battlefield Cyclorama breathtaking. We took one of the 2 hour bus tours with a Certified Battlefield Guide,...More

We thought that we knew a lot about the battle. We learned so much more by site and sound. The guides are wonderful.

The information on the tour was wonderful. The tour guide really knew her stuff. It was evident that she had researched the battle for eons.

I would suggest 6 hours, depending how many times you stop...also might be a good idea to take 2 days to go on auto tour--3 hours each day then you get to really soak all the beauty & history in.. have a great time!
