The Battle of Gettysburg was a turning point in the Civil War, the Union victory that ended General Robert E. Lee's second and most ambitious invasion of the North. Often referred to as the "High Water Mark of the Rebellion", Gettysburg was the Civil War's bloodiest battle and was also the inspiration for President Abraham Lincoln's immortal "Gettysburg Address".

What can I say that has not already been said here. Gettysburg is a must see for any Civil War enthusiast and a bucket list item for me. Started the morning with the movie and cyclorama. 20 minutes narrated by Morgan Freeman and then a visit to the amazing painting! I then walked the Cemetery Ridge trail up to Meade's... More

So many young men died in this bloody battle. We visited on Presidents' Day weekend. It was emotional to see all of the graves. Very appreciative of those who lost there lives in this battle and all others.

Amazing. The driving tour is amazing and the sites are truly historic. One of the best national parks in existence. Must see.

We took the bus tour throughout the park and we covered most of it. The place is huge, interesting and historical. We did get out only 1 time but there wasn't a lot of time to keep getting on/off the bus. The bus driver was a little bit scary. Thank goodness we were going slow. Nice piece of our history... More

I am not an historian, and it would be a stretch to say I sm a history buff. Maybe, I'm just a history tourist. But, I love Gettysburg. I have been visiting quite regularly, for 40 years. It is likely our country's best preserved battlefield park. It is breathtaking in it's sublime beauty. Taking in the park is very difficult... More

My husband and I have made many trips to visit the Gettysburg National Military Park. Each visit enables us to better understand the complexities of this terrible time in our nations history. To better understand the 3 days of battle, please allow yourself more than one day to visit, and if possible, plan on a guided tour of 2 to... More

A place to reflect and remember those who fought the battle at Gettysburg. At the center of the battlefield.

My husband and I have visited the Gettysburg National Military Park several times and each visit provides a new adventure and insight into this time of American history. There is so much to see within the facility and battlefields that I recommend planning ahead to make sure you get to see and experience as much as possible. Definitely a place... More

Gettysburg has always been on my list of must-see attractions, but I found myself wishing I had allotted more than one day for this site. I would recommend taking a guided tour, and allowing yourself plenty of time to walk the site. Staying in town will be a must for me on my next time through!

I don't care whether you like or dislike history, the Battle of Gettysburg stands as a seminal moment in this Nation's existence, the Civil War. It's indelible impact is still felt today. Gettysburg National Park is more than just an interesting piece of history, however. It is a living, breathing monument to the hundreds of thousands of our forefathers who... More
