The Battle of Gettysburg, a turning point in the Civil War, was the Union victory that ended General Robert E. Lee's second and most ambitious invasion of the North. Often referred to as the "High Water Mark of the Rebellion," Gettysburg was the Civil War's bloodiest battle and was also the inspiration for President Abraham Lincoln's immortal "Gettysburg Address."

First, we immersed ourselves in history at the museum and then hired a private guide. Even that was not enough. You must take your time driving slowly to admire the beauty of the monuments and to imagine the horrors that took place on this land....More

This is an awesome experience with very knowledgeable staff. We felt the museum was organized in an easy to follow manner. Interesting facts and artifacts from the war. Highly recommend this.

We absolutely loved the whole park. There are awesome scenic overlooks and the monuments were so cool. If you love history, you'll love this park. We didn't take a guided tour because we wanted to go at our own pace so I'm sure we missed...More

The park service has worked hard to keep the battlefield as much as it was during the battle as possible. It is amazing to stand on little roundtop and look down over the area and imagine the southern army trying to move from devils den...More

Love this park. So much to learn. You can even take a tour on horses so you can see the battlefield as the soldiers did. Very well maintained.

Explorng Gettysburg's Military Park was eye opening. Be sure to start your visit at the Visitors Center and spend the $15 to see the Cyclorama. Unblieveable and extremely informative. I learned more at 65 than I did when I was in school.

We did three days here and it was not enough. Would highly recommend the private tour through the park. We did a four hour tour and probably needed another 4 hours to complete. Will be back for sure.

The others who responded got it right. Do the Visitor center first. You will get a co prehensile intro to the town and the battle. You could easily spend 2 hrs there. Then follow the car route through the battlefield... More
