We ventured out on a nice day in march not knowing what to expect. I asked a few questions at the trading post/old bar and immediately realized that i was talking to a 4th generation owner of this property. The owners were very nice and...More

Too bad I drove 20 miles each way only to find out it was closed, even though the website said open. The area is lovely and did a hike at another trail but maybe put up a closed sign before a lot of people drove...More

We've passed this exit so often and finally stopped to view the ice cave. Yes, it was worth it. We started at the old trading post, built in the 1930's, which has artifacts and an assortment of art of the local Indian Tribes. We only...More

This place is so cool if you like seeing volcanoes and all the neat stuff that comes with it. The ice crystals look fluorescent green and are amazing. Bought some bags of sand to sift. Found a lot of rocks in them (garnet, amethyst, etc.

This area is privately owned but the entrance fee isn't onerous. The walk to the top of the volcano could be strenuous for those not accustomed to hiking on cinders and going up hill the entire walk. It's well worth it though. Great views, especially...More

We spent a fun morning here. There are interesting artifacts in the gift shop museum. The hike to the caldera was pleasant with many volcanic features, cinder cone, splatter cone, ah ah lava and lava tubes. The ice cave was so different than what we...More

Great place to see a volcano but the ice caves are amazing. Walking from hot to cold is very strange. If you are in the area it is a worthwhile trip

We are cruising on the Cunard Line in July from Ireland to Iceland. How is the weather and roughness of the waves that time of the year. We are going on the Queen Elizabeth and I am nervous the voyage will be rough. Please let me know your experiences.
