Visiting the home of Eleanor Roosevelt was truly a highlight of our trip! The property and her home reflect the amazing woman that she was. The Parks staff are very helpful and knowledgeable, and the extra bonus was one of them had been on Eleanor's staff as a young girl and could give personal information! What a lovely surprise! The... Beware many places on the east coast are closed some days. This was closed Tues-wed and open 1-4 other days. Nice property but it was closed.

Was really glad to tour this NP site. Mrs. Roosevelt's time spent at Val-Kill Cottage was of great importance in history. It was interesting to hear the private stories and the important people that she entertained. She was a great inspiring lady who was very important to our history of this country!

The Natioal Park guided tour is so informative and and well-presented that we felt at the end that we really had a personal look into Eleanor Roosevelt's life and times. The restoration and preservation of this historic site really give a sense of the life and purpose of the place and its people. The grounds are open for strolling and... More

Very interesting tour of Eleanor's cottage. Loved learning about the history of how it came to be and how dignitaries from other countries spent time there.

While a small cottage, it tells so much about this strong, persevering woman. There is no fuss, no fancy accouterments -- just Eleanor. Guide was very knowledgeable and was able to share details that revealed why she was an important partner to Roosevelt as the conscience that wasn't tied to political expediency. A must visit for any woman searching for... More

Including this cottage in the Roosevelt tour, was worth the extra time. Our guide was excellent. Seeing every residence was so unique, and worth the effort.

So as a big Eleanor Roosevelt fan I was enchanted with the cottage and the stories of her life here. To tour and see up close was special, almost like being invited over for hotdogs like the Queen, and then to see videos of her, the dogs, the visits to the place, was very remarkable. The historians have done a... More
