Very beautiful setting and knowledgeable part rangers. This is not a good place for fidgety kids. It doesn't take a lot of time to go through the out buildings and read about what they were used for. The house itself was closed but you could...More

We have toured Kingsley Plantation on Ft. George Island while up in that area and enjoyed it. The grounds back up to the scenic Ft. George Inlet which is a wonderful area to boat, kayak and canoe.

Jacksonville is an after thought for tourists, who opt for the glitz of Disney without realizing they passed by one of the most interesting and historical areas of Florida en route to Orlando. Kingsley Plantation is one of several jewels in Jacksonville. You can get...More

This place is a part of our National Historic Places and so worth the trip. The staff was welcoming and told us about a free audio tour and soon provided our group of 5 with a wi-fi device that told us all sorts of information...More

We were driving by and saw the sign for the plantation and decided to drive in. First of all this is a very narrow , bumpy, unpaved, dirt road that went on for about fifteen minutes , but once we pulled in we loved it...More

The history is sobering, but our entire family learned a lot and we are glad we came. The NPS does a fabulous job of making people aware of what happened on plantations while keeping the grounds restored. The setting is quite beautiful and logistically interesting...More

The one thing i really regret is that i didn't think to wear insect repellent. I'm the kind of person who gets 20 mosquito bites per minute outside. We ran from the slave cabins with mosquitos chasing us but took our time inside the house....More

A real accurate bldg and contents working middle class prewar plantation. Down a long drive, past restored slave "cabins" sits the one storey modest house. On the water. Fascinating and detailed experience. The history is extraordinary, particularly the story of mr kingsley's surviving spouse

But if you want to tour the house you need reservations ahead of time. Tours are only Saturday at 11:00am, maybe Sunday too.

Kingsley Plantation is approximately 29 minutes from the airport give or take a few. The main house is under renovation but they do give tours twice a day. You can still get the audio tours, free of charge, but it doesn't... More

Pretty sure they are open year round. They have a self guided tour that was pretty interesting.
