This past week I had a most enjoyable walk in the woods choosing one of the easiest trails in Jacksonville's Arboretum and Gardens. It was an opportunity for exercise as well as stopping to enjoy and learn about various plants and planted landscapes. The trails are marked as to how easy or difficult the walk may be and what kind... More

Very few plants had ID's, this is always a plus for me and sort of expected at an Arboretum/ Garden. We did spot armadillo, spotted tortoise and a small gator in the pond. So a fun day.

This is a great place to take an easy stroll around the lake or be more adventurous and hike through the narrow trails. Easy for people of all ages and ability to see what Jacksonville looked like to the French and Spanish when they first came here. Best to go in the fall or winter when the heat and insects... More

My husband and I went with my cousins and an aging aunt. None of us had been to the arboretum. It is very nicely laid out and offered an easy trail system for all of us to use. For such a small park they designed the layout for maximum privacy and use of space. Lots of unique plants for us... More

They have worked very hard to design this arboretum and gardens to educate and identify the biodiversity of our area. They have put many name plates identifying the trees and plants from our area. Many of our native trees and plants have been planted. Trails are very well marked. They have special events open to the public that are very... More

If you are looking for a little peace and quiet and an opportunity to reconnect with nature this is the place. Great for kids to get outdoors and burn off some energy. Nice little lake and several planted areas that compliment the surroundings. No artificial or special affects needed here. Price is right (free). Great family bonding time.

This hidden gem in Jacksonville is so close to the main highway but you feel like you're a million miles away. So many trails and paths to take, and different environments all in one small place.

The Arboretum is located on 100 acres of undeveloped land which contain 19 unique ecosystems. Still in its infancy, the Arboretum consists largely of trails that traverse the different ecosystems, all developed and maintained by community volunteers. There is the beginning of a fine formal garden area and there are restrooms and shelter available but no visitor's center or other... More

Brought my Mom and Sister-in-law for a lovely walk. Paths have a few roots here and there but easy walking. Beautiful scenery and informative signs about the ecosystem of the area, plants and creatures. Donation fee only and dog friendly.

Limited facilities, but beautiful Florida trails. Bring bug spray at peak times, and carry water- not much other than trails.
