We happened upon this stop and found it pretty interesting. It's true it is right next door to somebody's home. The grounds themselves are very peaceful, quiet with a short walk through the woods. If anything we learned what earthworks are.

I must say I was a little disappointed. This Historical Park is basically in a mobile home park and in a residential community. Is it just me? I feel historical places should be treated with better respect. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice little...More

This was a quick stop as the main attraction is a marker dedicated to the Confederate soldiers that protected Jacksonville. There are some cannons and brand new picnic tables might be nice for a family outing on the cheap side of things since its free...More

It seems to me this is an incorrect address for the fort but regardless, it is located in the residential area where I spent many years as a child. What wonderful memories I have running and playing on what use to be deep trenches, lush...More
