The hiking trails are the best.they go from Forrest to ocean shores. Great canoeing from the Nestal landing. Travel the route Lewis & Clark did .

Very nice place by the river side paying tribute to those intimately involved with maritime activities. Its a calm and quiet place that only requires a short visit

I'm a seafarer myself so when I see a memorial of those lost either at sea or otherwise I often stop and look at it... wonder if at some point I'll ever end up on one of those things. Anyway, it's nicely decorated and it's a kind hearted gesture from the community. Have a look and see, but please keep... More

Very nice Maritime Memorial for the people who lost their lives at sea. We were staying at the Holiday Inn, easy walk from the hotel!

This is by no means an attraction onto itself. It's along the delightful Astoria Riverwalk, and if you're doing that, spend a moment at the memorial. It features the names of folks important to the local maritime industries (canning, fishing, etc.) and those who lost their lives to the sea. Each name has a brief piece of information on the... This little memorial is worth a visit. It's located on the bank of the Columbia River, overlooking the ships heading to port. A very nice setting.

We took a self guided tour and seniors get in half price! My husband's father served on a liberty ship during WWII and he was just in awe of this boat as we walked thru and took in all the sites. Rumor has it the movie Titanic used their engine room for filming! There's also a historic aubmarine docked there... More

The memorial is small and simple which makes it more powerful. The wall has inscriptions for those who have died at sea. There is some steps closer to the river edge for family and friends to send tributes to those loved ones they have lost. The arches above those steps are open to allow the souls to rise to the... This small memorial sits just off the Riverwalk in Astoria. Elegant black stone has inscribed names of those who parishes at sea. The site is simply there to document and provide a place to remember these individuals. There is no attempt to explain who they were or what happened. A few poems are also inscribed on the wall.
