Worth the trip to the fort. Now I understand the significance of the place. The staff was helpful. The museum has some interesting artifacts. There are period uniforms. The officer's quarters (house) was quite nice and furnished.

Fort Davis is a very good example of frontier Army posts in western Texas. Stopped to tour and had a picnic lunch there. The Ranger at the visitor center was very informative and was enthusiastic about the post. A school group was there when we...More

The box canyon location adds to the attraction here! The original hospital still stands and was by far the best feature of the site--a must see. Fascinating stories on the signs, and not too wordy. They are raising funds to restore the building...

This was not on our radar to visit, but we are glad we did. Lots of memorabilia and fun facts. Museum and actual location of the fort and the history behind who fought there. We recommend going. Your National Park pass gets you in free.

It's just a crying shame this fort was not made into a National or State park soon enough to save some of the buildings. Even though all the buildings are recreations, the site does a masterful job of helping you see life at Fort Davis....More

Fort Davis has been visited and reviewed by many, and is well worth a stop if you are in west Texas. When reading about the history of the area, look at the strange formations lining the top of the surrounding mountains and see if you...More

I was pleasantly surprised by this Historic site. Beautiful location and very well preserved. Many buildings have been left in their original, unrestored state. Others have been wonderfully restored to show how they would have looked at the time and are open for viewing. Great...More

A very nicely restored historic fort. You can walk the grounds and see the buildings and learn about the history of the fort and the area. Some buildings have rooms that you can view. There is an interesting, but somewhat strenuous 1.2 mile trail with...More
