Went to the site and was surprised by what extra was found. Not only is Poe and his monument buried here but other prominent members of the founding Baltimore community. Such as McHenry, etc. Take a moment and walk through the graveyard and read the markers very interesting. Poe's marker of where he was first buried is around the back... More

I came to Westminster Cemetery to pay my respects to Poe but was surprised to find so much historical information on panels throughout. Many successful businessmen and other notables are buried here, and biographical plaques help flesh out the city's past. Art historians might also enjoy descriptions of the Egyptian-style iron gates and the styles of decoration on the more... More

The graveyard that includes two markers for EA Poe was interesting with quite a few informative signs of the many prominent people buried there. It is open 8am to dusk. There are tours offered, check the website. The church was built on the graveyard creating catacombs in order for the congregation to ensure the site of the graveyard would not... More

We're not big on visiting grave sites, but this is Poe! It's kinda like Jim Morrison's grave in Paris.....people are still leaving things....a few flowers and beers.....and the graveyard is downtown and feels English.....kinda like Christ Church Cemetery in Philadelphia. A nice few minutes to contemplate and feel what eternity might be like for all of us if we're lucky.

Not much to really say, but this is a cool graveyard in the center of downtown Baltimore. We were here about 20 minutes looking around at all the old graves and crypts and such. If you're downtown and liked Poe or Graveyards, this is worth the stop. And it's free.

Great place to step back in time. It's amazing how many graves are packed into such a small place. It's a quick walk through. They do offer guided tours on various days which would make this even more interesting. But it was interesting enough on our own.

This is a trip every English teacher needs to take! It was surreal being there! I thanked him for giving me great works to teach in October...someone left him some Raven Beer.

Having read many of Poe's books and writings and having visited many graveyards throughout the world, we found this an interesting place to visit. There were also many graves of the people involved in the War of 1812, especially interesting after visiting Ft. McHenry National Park, also in Baltimore. Many people would just quickly walk through this graveyard, but time... More
