You don't have to be an architect to enjoy the Architectural Tours of Savannah with Jonathan Stalcup. He is author and holds a Master of Architecture degree from SCAD. Jonathan not only knows his stuff design-wise, he makes it really easy for the average tourist to understand how Savannah was born and grew into the beautiful and beautifully singular city it is. He not only stops and points, he brings along visual aids to help you understand how a particular building or square evolved. You won't be bored or even tired- the tour progresses (and walks) through hundreds of years of history at leisurely pace.

Jonathan is an excellent tour guide. Keeping it to 90 minutes is a good idea if you can cover the basics in an engaging and thorough manner. He can. This is not a tour of the many beautiful houses in Savannah, but rather a key...More

Jonathan was a wealth of knowledge. You don't have to be an architect to go on this tour. I learned more than I have in 44 years on this earth about architecture on this 90 minute tour. I love history and he tied the Savannah...More

As to be expected, Jonathan is very knowledgeable about the evolving architectural styles and technologies through the decades. But he also relates these architectural developments to contemporary historical and political events. Well worth doing.

We went on a walking architecture tour of historic Savannah. It was wonderful. Jonathan had great information to share about the history of the houses and how they changed over time. When we later toured some of the houses, his information really helped to frame...More

Excellent for anyone who loves architecture...or Savannah. Jonathan's knowledge goes far beyond the historic district.

Jonathan, who has a master’s degree in architecture, provided a tour that was truly interesting. I discovered that I was “looking”at the beautiful old homes in Savannah but not really “seeing” what made them special. Jonathan pointed out the smallest details in design and construction....More

The tour covered basic history of some of the squares and the layout of the city. However, if you have more detailed questions about the city, squares or a specific home, he will absolutely be able to answer your questions.
