I was by myself on a walk on a Monday morning around 9am when I ran into this tranquil little spot. I was attracted by the beauty of all the moss hanging from the trees and the headstones and signs that told of stories centuries old. Very interesting and tranquil walk back through time.

You can not come to a place like this and not leave feeling so moved and extremely grateful to all who have served, in all walks... More

Very nice in town Cemetery that has been well taken care of.Stopped being used in 1850 so all the graves are very old and many are well marked with plaques with information about duels and wars very historic and interesting

There are lots of old historic markers inside the cemetery grounds. It's a lovely setting with lots of the city's oak trees inside the property along with benches for reflection and meditation. Old 200 year old makers can be difficult to read just because time has worn out the tombstones.

This is a beautiful old cemetery with stones dating back more than 200 years. Clear paths and well maintained.

My husband and I walked through on our way to the St Johns church. It is really interesting. There are also headstones placed along the wall which is really interesting.

It's hard to explain the impact of this cemetery when you take the time to read the well-placed and phrased historical plaques throughout the lovely grounds. You can see many by staying on the gravel paths, but wander afield and there are even more interesting things to learn about this great city's history. Read brief bios on Revolutionary War generals... More

There's a lot you can learn walking thru a cemetery, especially one as old as this one. The latest date I found on a grave marker was 1790. They stopped using this cemetery about that time. Reportedly there were 10,000 documented burials but only about 900 markers! Yup, you'll be walking on graves here. Many interesting stories to be found... More

Very peaceful. A lot of old gravesites! Can definitely do this on your own but they have guided tours.

I felt like I was punched in the gut wandering this cemetary...the headstones are quite old and it was frightening to see so many people who died young and their children who did not make it past the age of 2. And so very many had traveled to GA from Ireland. It made me so appreciative of the hardships they... More
