The first time my wife & I walked by the Colonial Park Cemetery we barely noticed it. But on our next day's wander around the Historic District we realized the significance of these 6 acres of burial grounds established in 1750. There's lots of history to be discovered & learned here while you are otherwise using it as a shortcut to a further destination, so we recommend you linger for a bit.

Our GPS kept routing us through the cemetery otherwise I may not have walked through. The cemetery is well kept and it felt more like a park each time we walked though with kids on the grass and dogs running around. As others have said the grave markers are old and eroded making most very difficult to read.

I’m a big fan of old cemeteries and love strolling around checking out the gravestones from many years past. I find a lot of solitude walking around and thinking about the lives of the people buried there. I love reading about the people and reflecting on the historical aspect of the information.
This cemetery occupies a large space, but the gravestones are few and far between and, scattered around. Unfortunately the type of material used for these stones have not withstood climate and time. There are very few that you can actually read.
I still enjoyed my time there, but would have to say it was only an average experience.

Colonial Park Cemetery is well kept. Unfortunately, due to the age of the headstones, they are very difficult or impossible to read.

We walked around looking at the stones that are still legible. So many died young. It was calm and peaceful.

I actually loved this cemetery. It had lots of character. I liked the different plaques that told about different people. It’s very interesting, very clean cemetery and beautiful setting.

This is a place where you have to stop. Really nice placards for some of the most famous people buried here. Really well groomed grounds. We enjoyed our step back in history.

We enjoyed visiting this park, that was also a cemetery. It was closed to new graves about 150 years ago, so the graves there are very old. We even found the grave of Theodore Roosevelt's great great grandfather. Much history found there.

I thought this cementary was better than St. Bonaventure. I am a history buff and this cementary had great history. Button Gwinnett's grave is there (signer of the DOI) and other historical figures. Very interesting place.

This old cemetery is very well maintained. And has very old graves and tombstones. It’s nice for a stroll and there are several famous people from hundreds of years ago.

I think it would be too tempting for the dog to pee on a monument - marking a grave marker. Don't do it. This is a small cemetery filled with graves. There is no "open" - that is, unfilled area for a dog.
