I found this cemetery very well kept even if some of the stone are not longer readable. It was apparent that people came here to eat, visit and walk. Not a long walk, but so full of history.

Worth a walk through this cemetery. Very old. Many headstones have eroded and are no longer legible. Family vaults are a unique feature.

We were parked down Lincoln Street and on our way to the cathedral. We inadvertently walked through this cemetery as a short cut. Established in 1750 it is a very interesting cemetery with historic VIPs buried there.

My sister and I went and spent sometime here. It is a peaceful place with lots of history. Most of the original stones are difficult or impossible to read. There are signs with information about some of the graves. Some of the gravestones have been "edited" by Union troops that camped there when Sherman marched thru Georgia.

I literally stumbled upon the cemetery when my walking GPS took me here to get to my destination. The graves I saw were 1800s with some brick and mortar mosoleums. There are several different plaques throughout the cemetery to give visitors background into the cemetery's inhabitants.

This cemetery holds many important people, not only important to Savannah's history, but to the USA's history as well. I like the many historical markers which explain the lives of those buried there.

We toured this by ourselves but Iwant to do it again with a guide. As you walk around there are many tombs and graves marked with historical markers explaining who is buried there. I was seeking out Button Gwinnett a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Fun search ! It's educational. Go.

Many famous people in Savannah's history are buried here with monuments that speak to that history. This is a good place to just walk around and read history.
