Pleasant surprise!

The home and grounds alone is worth a visit. The details on the various model ship displays were fascinating.

I enjoyed the history of the house which is on the second level at the top of the stairs. The models were interesting and I really enjoyed the ones that were open on the sides so you could see all the people and cargo loaded into the boats - I think kids would love this part of the museum. I... More

In an old home. Very well done. Lots of large ship models and paintings. History of Savannah shipping as well as Civil War involvement. Lovely gardens as well.

Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum has a great display of ship models. The displays include ships from Savannah's history as well as ships from US history including the Titanic. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting the museum and will return upon our next visit.

The most memorable displays in this fine museum are ship's models of some of the most iconic sailing vessels of all time. From galleons to modern navy ships. The scale (as large as 3/8'=1') allows the viewer to understand how the ship operated and the crew lived through cutaways in hull and superstructure. The museum has extensive archives and the... This small museum is laid out in beautiful grounds and has a variety of model ships on show including Titanic. It was just $9 each which was OK if you like small museums and model ships.

I guess I expected more of a Maritime and Ship history museum but it was more about a few ships named Savannah and really some basic nautical information. The "downstairs"... More
