Located near historic Savannah, this park borders Skidaway narrows, a part of Georgia’s intracoastal waterway. Trails wind through maritime forest and past salt marsh, leading to a boardwalk and observation tower. Visitors can watch for deer, fiddler crabs, raccoon, egrets and other wildlife. Inside the park’s interpretive center, birders will find binoculars, reference books and a window where they can look for migrating species such as Painted Buntings. Children will especially enjoy seeing the towering, 20-foot Giant Ground Sloth replica and reptile room. A scenic campground is nestled under live oaks and Spanish moss, while groups can enjoy privacy in their own pioneer campgrounds. Open-air picnic shelters and an enclosed group shelter are popular spots for parties, reunions and other celebrations.

Beautiful state park

loved our visit. It was quiet, large campgrounds, and just beautiful. The bath house and bathrooms were well kept. This is only about 10 minutes from downtown Savannah.

Great quiet, spacious and clean campground. Park offers some walking trails, not extensive but nice when you're used to staying in RV parks on the edge of a highway and the like! Publix right nearby and Kroger only up the road. Great location for trips into town, 20-25 mins.

This park is the cream of the crop. Immaculately clean with two great trails leading to the marshland, large spots and even laundry on site. Friendly park staff with a small souviner shop, essentials, ice, firewood and bike rentals. The mossy trees and wildlife make this the iconic location of the south. I tent camped andmthe sanded pad made it... More

Stopped at the park for a hike on a recent trip to Savannah. Very beautiful and well groomed trails. May want to bring gnat spray with you as a precaution.

They were having food trucks and a yard sales on the day we visited. This was the first time in the park and it was a great trip. We also did a nature trail which was very cool. I would recommend visiting the park by tourist or locals.

Spent a week here and loved it. Close to Savannah and a nice park with amenities, although the bath houses could use some updating. In Georgia state parks you can reserve but not a specific spot, so when you get there you just have to drive around until you find a vacant spot you like. I think, in a way, I... More

My boyfriend and I were planning a camping trip near Savannah and found Skidaway Island State Park. It was the perfect spot for us! We arrived Sunday afternoon, checked in, and picked out our campsite. Our spot was great and the comfort facilities were some of the best I've experienced camping. After a small rain shower, we spent Monday morning... More

Nice place to check out a small aquarium and take a hike through a forest to the river. Has a 1/2 mile and a 1 mile trail -- easy walking.

Stayed here two nights in our tear drop camper! This park is very clean and has fairly private sites if you get there early. We saw a few deer , a snake and lots a birds during our stay. It's not far from downtown Savannah via the Truman parkway. There is one trail there that allows bikes, but be warned,... More
