You are invited to walk with me as I use Savannah's architectural history as a visual aid to tell the history of Savannah's innovative city plan, icredible mix of architectural styles, and generations of diverse people who have created America's most uniquely beautiful city. I have been personally involved with the restoration of numerous buildings within Savannah's historic districts and can offer a unique perspective among tour guides.

This tour is wonderful! I had taken the city bus tour the day earlier and loved the overview; it gave me a great understanding of the city. This walking tour took it home though. I learned details about everyday life, the architecture and the planning of the city. I was the only one who booked the tour and Dirk carried... More

Dirk's close ties and background with preservation and history of the community, gives him the ability to tell story after story as we gained understanding of the very interesting and unique history of Savannah. We had just 4 people on the tour which allowed for conversation and questions and I was thankful as other tours that went by were much... More

Before booking this tour, I did a lot of research reading reviews on each type of Savannah city tours as well as searching the forums in Tripadvisor for more information about tours here. I knew I wanted a tour where I would learn more about the city of Savannah and get more acquainted with the historic district. I kept coming... More

4 of us took this tour with Dirk last week. Dirk was a great guide and you could tell he loved talking about the history and city of Savannah. He was a welcome change to the food tour guide we had on a tour 2 days prior. Dirk is an architect and has worked for the Savannah Preservation Society (I... More

Our experience on a two-hour tour of central Savannah greatly enriched our visit to the city. Dirk was our guide and explained many interesting facts about the building styles prevalent in late 18th century and early 19th century Savannah. He also included colorful anecdotes and facts about prominent persons from that era. Thank you Dirk for a memorable afternoon.

We spent more than two hours with Dirk on a very informative tour of Savannah, Ga. Dirk knows ALOT about Savannah history and architecture! He answered all of our questions and was eager to help us learn about the city and its origins as well as the layout of the squares.

We took a private tour with Dirk of Savannah. He is a wealth of knowledge and tells you all about the history, the architecture and everything in between. It was supposed to be a two hour tour that was more like 21/2 hours as he had so much information to share with us. He is passionate about his city, Savannah... More

We took two tours with Dirk. After our first tour, we asked if he toured the southern part of the Historic District. He said he did have a second tour and offered to do that one as well. So, lucky us, we had two tours with Dirk. He is knowledgeable in architecture. Along with the history of Savannah, you also... More
