Cute little plaza near the west end of River Street. Historical marker describing the ship Savannah, the first steamship to cross the Atlantic. Also had a model of the ship. Worth a quick visit as you're going along the river, and it seemed to hold the interest of the kids who were there.

The most important facet of this area is the visible history. You can see the stores (in the sense of storage facilities), the factor's offices, the architecture and the cobblestone streets as they were 200 years ago. But now they house the touristy stores and wonderful bars and restaurants - ranging from fun & funky to upscale to family friendly.... More

There are loads of stairs down to the Riverfront and back up, so be prepared! Comfortable shoes, layered clothing, and try to allow yourself time to see the entire Riverfront area!

This area of Savannah is rich in history and very interesting but be careful if you decide to drive on River St. It's complete cobblestone and very rough to drive on, like shockingly rough. There is really no way to turn off of it either, so you're forced to drive for blocks going bumpity bump bump bump. Luckily we made... More

Close by the river where you can have your own slow stroll on a pathway filled with historic stone blocks is just beautiful. Added with this there is continuous stores owned by families that will feed you and will also help you in purchasing things that is specific to this region. You would also enjoy the tram tours that pass... More
