The SCAD Museum of Art was founded in 2002 as part of the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia. The museum's collection of more than 4,500 pieces includes works of haute couture, drawings, painting, sculpture, photography, prints and more. The SCAD Museum of Art is a teaching museum, serving Savannah College of Art and Design students and as well as members of the community and other visitors. A focal point is the Walter O. Evans Center for African American Studies, a multidisciplinary center for the study, understanding and appreciation of African American culture, art and literature. It is complemented by the André Leon Talley Gallery, named for the Vogue contributing editor and SCAD Board of Trustees member. The museum also features a 250-seat theater, a terrace and outdoor projection screen, a conservation studio, a museum café, as well as a 12-foot-long orientation touch table. An 86-foot tall steel and glass lantern welcomes visitors and elegantly redefines the Savannah city skyline.

This museum is small but a gem in Savannah's art scene. A lot of different displays for its size. (My personal favorite collection was Lineages by Farmanfarmaian, so check it out while it's still here!) There was staff all over to help. There's also a student discount, so bring your ids!

We stopped in here on our college visit to SCAD and were very pleasantly surprised at the curation of the exhibit. Wonderful gift shop as well - with a great variety of items and prices.

Great exhibits in a former cotton warehouse that has been converted into a museum. Far better than one would expect and worthy of a visit, allow an hour or so. That said, it seems as though the museum relies on temporary exhibits so bear that in mind. If you park in the nearby lot as part of one of the... More

Small museum with around 5 collections that change approximately twice/year. Made great by the students who work there and give a personal touch to the experience. Each exhibit has 1 or 2 students ready to answer questions/discuss ideas, which makes the museum much more interesting and interactive!

Usually I'm not too enamored with modern art, but there were some outstanding and unique exhibits here. There is someone in every gallery to tell you more about the artists and their works which made it even more interesting. I was impressed!

My wife and I are not much into art, but this museum was actually kind of cool. There is so much to see, and the building is convenient to access. I would certainly recommend it if you are feeling overheated one day.
