You can take a short ride on a train to explore the back part of the site. You can also operate a hand car or explore an executive car. The tours are guided. Riding the train is definitely the best part.

Great program presented by our tour guide! My favorite was touring the private care of the railroad president!

The museum isn't much more than some old cars and rolling stock in an old yard. There is very little information about their collection and no cohesiveness to the signs around the property. I was literally free to to walk about and climb on just about anything on there. The steam train ride might have been more interesting if it... More

I must admit I kind of chuckled when I researched this site and saw they offer train rides. How far can they possible go in downtown Savannah? I must say this was a fun visit, the short-narrated train ride with a few rides on the turntable, seeing restorations in progress, and seeing the interiors of 2 executive cars. Well knowledged... This museum is one of those that is in the process of building a great place for parents to take their kids and show off the BIG toys of their youth.

We expected more from this museum. The roundhouse was pretty cool, but other than that, it did not meet our expectations. Consider your entry fee a donation to the preservation of this site.

When I was still in school this area was over grown with trees, and bushes having been abandoned after steam trains had died out and diesel became the way to go. Being somewhat a train nut, I wanted to see this museum since it had not existed back when I lived in the Savannah area. When I was still in... More

We were traveling with friends who wanted to see the Savannah History Museum, when we also found out about the Railroad Museum and decided to add it to our ticket. I'm so glad we did! I'm not a train aficionado and I know little about them, but I thoroughly enjoyed this museum. The buildings and the trains themselves are impressive... More
