The Clark County Historical Society & Museum are dedicated to the collection, preservation, and interpretation of the cultural history of Clark County and the Pacific Northwest, and to sponsoring educational programs and exhibits for the enrichment of all members of the public. The museum is located in Vancouver Washington's 1909 Carnegie Library at 1511 Main Street. To achieve the above functions, the museum produces changing interpretive exhibits using the tangible historic objects stored in the museum collection and temporary loans of items from the community and other heritage organizations. The museum also hosts traveling exhibits from larger institutions and regularly provides lectures, classes, special events, student internships, teacher training opportunities and other related education programs to further the appreciation of the history and culture of Clark County. The museum also houses a gift shop and a research library, both of which are open during regular museum hours.

There were a number of exhibits during our First Thursday art walk visit. I loved the architecture of the building as well as info on the local area. The native American bead work was beautiful and very decorative and ornate. Be sure to check out the archives downstairs. We found a book that had virtually every building in Clark County,... More

What an interesting walk! Learn some history and legends of local businesses that are said to be haunted. Hidden House, Kiggens the theater and the I-5 bridge are just a few. I think it is only offered in October, but worth the $10.

Very friendly, helpful and informed staff on Vancouver's history. We went on their ghost walk this last year and learned a lot about Vancouver and had a blast!

I've lived in Vancouver, WA for 20 years and I finally visited for the first time. First Friday of the month is an art walk in downtown Vancouver. Lots of places are open and showing different types of art and photography. The museum is open and it's free, so I went and was pleasantly surprised. Lots of cool displays on... More

The museum changes its exhibit frequently, but always focuses on the region and its place in the “bigger picture.” Recent exhibit included one on women’s undergarments; another is of Native American basketry. It did one on the history of the Interstate 5 bridge that connects Vancouver to Portland. The new executive director has brought a welcome, dynamic perspective.
