It's a good place to unwind along the banks of the Rappahannnock River. This is the site of the Fourth of July fireworks display for the City of Fredericksburg each year.

Large children's park, lots of parking for new walking trails along Riverside Dr. Rec. soccer fields, picnic shelters, fishing, in Rapppahannock. Not safe for swimmers because of under tow.. .Lots to do.L

If you want to ensure you have access to the pavilion, I would definitely contact the parks and recreation dept. I see families out there all the time and the common areas tend to fill up quickly by the locals
