GREAT AURORA VIEWING

Aurora viewing can be challenging at best but the venue and the people at Skiland make it a wonderful experience.

Such a nice place to see the aurora borealis. The staff was very kind and friendly. We had hot chocolate, and the lodge is warm and has restrooms. It was a nice group viewing the aurora, and we enjoyed ourselves. The lodge is situated perfectly that the views are fantastic -- up on a ridge and far from the city... More

Skilled offers some great winter skiing. The owners are putting in new chair lifts and sprucing up the lodge. There are a variety of runs and something for everyone. It is north of town and offers a beautiful view of the White Mountains. It can be windy there so check weather conditions before you head out. Very enjoyable when weather... More

This is a great ski hill for intermediate to advanced riders. They've made some nice improvements to their cafe and are working on more. It's average priced and they're bringing in new rental gear. It's always well groomed and you can ski late into the season. I would highly recommend for skiing. Now, as an event venue: This is a... More

I grew up in Utah. There are no mountains like that here. Skiland does have some good hills though and we come here often. The chairlift is a bit slow, but it does the job. The food is yummy and you always see a familiar face on the slopes. It's our favorite ski spot in Fairbanks.

Nice place and nice lodge to view the aurora. It is very far from the city so no light around will interrupt the view of the aurora

Traveled to the area to view the aurora borealis, and went skiing here during the daytime. It was a balmy 20 F. Don't expect big powder- they get limited snow, but keep it well groomed. Not busy at all--had to wait for 2 people in front of us once. Old style double chair-- slow. Only one chair on the mountain.... More

For $30 bucks a person, you get a warm cabin, coffee, tea, or hot chocolate, and a friendly staff member who will wait up till 3 AM so you can catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights.

We only visited here once, while in the area, for the evening Aurora. The lodge was full of visitors watching the Northern lights develop and photograph this awesome sight! The hosts were courteous, yet it was so busy with people I could have used some help with my camera that night, from the young man who was assisting others...the following... More

We drove up and were surprised to find that everything was closed despite the recent snowfall. It was a Tuesday so maybe that's why? No signs posted that we, or the other people who were walking around, could see.
