BAM has always been that Performance Arts venue in Brooklyn that's thinks outside of the box when booking progressive and eclectically cultural entertainment arts programs. It continues to be one of Brooklyn's best known treasures .From its many must see films and operas to its annual Dance Africa and Christmas holiday Nutcracker performances, going to a performance at Brooklyn Academy... We went to a fantastic performance here - Mark Morris Dance Group and Music Ensemble. In the wonderful opera house. Tickets were a great bargain -- for Balcony seats and the sight lines were just fine . Love the space - looks like there is a amazing array of shows there.

Being a 10+ year Brooklyn borough resident, I'm embarassed to say I only just set foot in BAM recently. What a hidden gem! We saw a program in the Howard Gilman Opera House which rivals any venue seen on Broadway or anywhere else in Manhattan. I saw the little move theaters on the other side of the building, so will... Loved going here for a number of plays, concerts and even movies. This historic building is very conveniently located to excellent transportations hubs of purr, bus and subway with parking a bit more problematic as recent building makes lots and on street much more difficult. There are many choices for food in the area from top 4 star places to... More

BAM has done it again: a production so riveting, so emotional, passionate and disturbing in its story telling, that I feel compelled to urge all you theatre-goers out there to make it a must-see during its all too brief limited engagement. The play in question is Druid: The Beauty Queen of Leenane, by Irish playwright, Martin McDonagh. It is so... More

Has been years since I attended a concert, but to my recollection this was a great venue to listen to any form of music, whether it be jazz or classical, had a warm and inviting feel to it. So glad that it has been restored to its former beauty

The fact that the recent Jonah Bokaer dance premiere was performed at the BAM Opera House made it a synesthetically unique New York City experience. Even the opening vision of moonlight slanting down through smoke, viewed by the snazzy audience kitted out for a gala & seen on the open BAM stage, next to its Beaux Arts relief of Apollo’s... More

I read about this institution in a guide book when planning our visit and checked what was on. We got to listen to a great jazz concert for free while nibbling food prepared on the spot. The concert was incredible and the atmosphere relaxed ( people walked in and out, chatted and looked at the art on display). The staff... More

First trip to Brooklyn and it did not disappoint. A different atmosphere to New York (more gritty). We attended the theatre on Fulton Street which was a very old building with the decoration crumbling adding to the post war theme, even though I did initially think I was in the wrong place! Mikhail Baryshnikov was outstanding in Letter to a... More
