A walking tour of the Gila Cliff Dwellings was not especially difficult for us even though about 100 feet of climbing was required. A ranger was present at the cliff houses to explain and prevent damage to the artifacts.

A wonderful 1/2 mile or so walk through a canyon also known as the Gila Catwalk. Drive north on highway 180 from Silver City, drive through Glenwood, at the north side of town turn right at the sign about the Catwalk, and take that little...More

Drive up from Silver City takes about an hour and a half on winding narrow roads. Scenery is fantastic. Beautiful views. Park is nice. Cave dwellings are a must see. Incredible! Walk up to caves is not too bad. Small section requires a good effort...More

If you're in the area, it's definitely worth driving a few hours out of your way to see these amazing cliff dwellings.

A wonderful, wonderful place to visit. So fascinating and so wonderful that you can actually walk through the Cliff Dwellings. It is a bit of a drive, twisty and slow, but the country is gorgeous.

This one is well worth the drive and visit. Enjoy the visitors center and hike the short trail up to the cliff dwellings. Both are well worth the time.

The cliff dwellings are well worth the drive of almost 2 hours each way. Recommend taking the short route first it’s 44 miles of very winding road at and average of about 20 mph. The longer route back about the same time but straighter road...More

From Silver City, the Cliff Dwellings area is a 44 mile/2-hour drive (or 64 mile/2-hour drive) but the reward is there. We enjoyed the drive (we took the 64 mile route) and really enjoyed the visit to the Cliff Dwellings. The volunteer staff members stood...More

Did our first hike here. There are signs but no real blazes on the trails. Signs alone are a bit confusing. Good high desert vegetation. Plan on many more hikes here now that we have better and more in depth trail information.

Had a great time hiking around lake Roberts and up to the cliff dwellings. Lovely regards de in throwing hi the valley by the Gila river. Mesa or upper end campgrounds are good. Went fishing and frogging.

You can take the puppy with you but he will not be allowed on the historic trail or near the dwellings. Someone will need to stay with the puppy in the parking lot.

You are not allowed to take any animals to visit the dwellings. The ranger station provides cages where pets can be housed for the duration of your visit. I knew that I could do the round trip from the ranger station to the... More
