My experience was from driving along the highway, marveling at the constantly changing scenery, stopping to take photos...didn't have time for hiking, but that would've been fantastic

We drove for miles and miles on route12 and highway 89. It was very scenic but not as wonderful as I expected it to be. The cliffs and the mountains become very redundant the more you see them.

In the afternoon light the cliffs are vermillion as promised. A great view going in either direction, west to the north rim, or east to Lee's Ferry. Some small and friendly motels and restaurants make a stay memorable.

We did not succeed in getting lottery tickets to the Wave area, as these are very limited and require that you also take a guide (they have their own permit), so we did not hike there. Nevertheless, we enjoyed driving around... More

You can view the cliffs easily from your car by traveling on Rt.89A from Kanab, Utah all the way to Bitter Springs, Arizona. Various places to take little side roads to get up close if you want to. Just keep your eyes open... More
