Horseshoe Bend is the intimate Grand Canyon experience (although technically located in Glen Canyon.) The trailhead to this 3/4 mile hike is located just outside of Page, Arizona. It overlooks one of the most spectacular views on the Colorado River, 4 miles south of the Glen Canyon Dam, and 7 miles north of mile zero of the Grand Canyon.

Do NOT park all the way out in the road. Be patient there is plenty of parking in the lot. Save your energy for the hike to the absolutely beautiful view. Make sure to bring some water. It's all worth it for the spectacular view.

You walk for about one mile and you get a fantastic sight! There was a stray female dog that my daughter gave food to but refused to be approached. We came back the following morning with food from the hotel and she was gone, hopefully...More

We went at sunset and it was AMAZING -- easy hike, beautiful canyon. You can climb rocks and explore the areas. The view is just breath taking

All of a sudden geography field trips got a whole lot more interesting! This is nature at its best. Best visited late afternoon after the heat has subsided. Don't try any over-ambitious selfies near the edge.

We planned a sunset visit and were pleased that the temperature started to drop about an hour before sunset. The crowds were crazy but we walked fairly far to the left and there were a lot fewer people and the views were still great. Be...More

If you are in the area go and see this but just bear in mind you can stand right on the edge of a very long drop!

Amazing overlook of this beautiful natural rock formation. It's a little steep getting to it, especially with the heat and elevation but worth it. It won't take very long, apwearvsensible shoes.

I wanted to see this for a long time, and finally dream came true. It took a long time to get there but it was well worth it. We went there a little bit before sunset, it was beaustiful breathtaking view.

Aim for early morning or maybe sunset for the best pictures. There were hundreds of people on the short trail to the Bend, so the place loses some of its grandeur due to crowds. In hindsight, this would have been an even better stop if...More

3pm is fine. It will be warm and there is a bit of an uphill hike to get to the viewing area. Bring water and wear a hat. Also... THERE IS NO RAILING ON THE EDGE! If you have little explorers keep a close eye on them.

I would allow 2 hours for the Horseshoe Bend. It is 10 minutes walking to the Bend from the parking lot. You also need to walk around the upper rims of the Bend and take pictures. One hour is too rushed to do all this... More

I'm sorry, we had a car and had no information about moving around. Call Jackie at Canyon X tours (friend of Coco) at 928-660-8961. They are new and very helpful; may be able to help.
