Stopped by for the free tour and the guide apologized that we wouldn't get to see inside several of the rooms because they were swearing in the newly elected members that day, so we could only peek in. I didn't mind at all not being able to go in, but rather thought it was great to be able to see... More

Great place to check off the list. There are a number of great places to take pictures and spend time relaxing. Also, the farmers market in the spring and summer surround it and are a must!

This is a beautiful state Capitol building, hosting the Liberty Bell of the State. I visited it on New Year's Eve with a friend and was amazed to see a wedding happening in the Senate hall. Apparently, this is one of the few places in Madison where you can arrange for a wedding ceremony on Christmas Day and New Years... More

The capitol building is quite lovely and open to the public. A stroll through gives views of the classical architecture and dome and blends of stone and marble from around the world and United States. A tour is well worth the time but visitors are free to wander around on their own and take in the views from all levels.

I have visited state capitals in California and Iowa, as well as the Federal Capital in Washington D.C. I love history and this tour fit the bill. There was the right amount of information, and it was kept interesting for someone who was from another state. The murals and intricate stonework alone are worth seeing. Going right after Christmas meant... More

The best State Capitol anywhere. People all over the world visit and are amazed by the grandeur and beauty of this fantastic monument to our democracy. In my 16 years working there I am totally inspired with the quality of the work in the construction of this building nearly 100 years-old. It is an honor to meet and greet school... More

I've driven past the capitol lots of times, but have never gone in. This is an impressive building. They had a tree up for the holidays in the rotunda. I wandered around for a while and took in the Supreme Court chambers, and the Senate chambers. Too bad neither was in session. I found my was up to the observation... More
