Stopped in the capitol while visiting Uw-Madison. Kids had fun going up all the levels and trying to see what area they could discover. It is a beautiful place. In the center was history of the building and former politicians. It was interesting.

The building is visually stunning on the outside due to its size but then you go into the rotunda a it is breathtaking! Beautifully restored in the last few years with just enough historical information to whet your appetite.

2017 marks 100 years since the capitol was completed. In all, it took just eleven years to build this grand iconic structure. To celebrate, there is now an interactive display in the center of the ground floor rotunda which relays some very interesting stories in both written and video form. Produced by the Wisconsin Historical Society, it includes reproductions of... More

I first got to know the Wisconsin State Capitol as a cool place to take a rest after a long walk on Madison's State Street. The plentiful stone benches in or near the rotunda, and the marble walls, make for a heat-relieving atmosphere on summer days. Since then, of course, I've come to know the Capitol as a workplace for... More

The capitol is beautiful to visit, a must see in Madison. Particularly good to view when the Christmas Tree is lighted each year, usually a choir sings too.

Delightful tour of the historical building. Lots of inexpensive parking nearby. No food inside but restaurants all around.

Great building to visit, be careful you don't get lost. There are tours available multiple days per week. I love the area around it, during spring/summer, you can walk and get a great view of the city.

Our capitol is stunning in it's beauty, from the ground floor to the rotunda, to the very top of the dome. Also it is known as a peoples' capitol where freedom of speech is evident daily to the annoyance of the present state legislature. Free tours are available daily.
