Had a paid table in front of the stage area about halfway back. Other tables were loud and rude and when I addressed one table asking that they respect quiet because of other people wanting to hear, they looked at me like I was in the wrong. It was a great social event and I would do it again, but... More

Simply put, this is one of my favorite events to attend in Madison. Plan accordingly and you'll likely be like me and look forward to relaxing Wednesday evenings on the capital lawn. My recommendations: Plan to arrive around 5:30. It's on an isthmus, it's rush hour, and it's a very popular event. Know where you want to park - if... More

We had looked forward to finally attending COS, but were thoroughly disappointed by the "performance" of the audience. Attendance was estimated at 50,000, and nearly all of them seemed to have come to socialize rather than to listen to the music. Fortunately we were close to a speaker, so we heard the great music fine, but there was a continuous... More

Well I liked "being there". What started like an invite to go with another couple ended up being a "Meet Up" and 24 friends from River Hills Church in Sauk City, WI showed up in one gathering spot. Space saved by an early couple was critical, bringing a light comfortable chair is critical, snacks or dinner in a basket is... More

Free concerts every Wednesday during the summer around the capitol in Madison. This is one of the best experiences you can have of Wisconsin/ the Midwest! Bring a blanket to the capitol early in the day to save a spot. Then come back later with your picnic dinner - or buy food at one of the stands around the capitol.

Summer in Madison can be characterized by spending time near our Capitol. Either Wednesday Night's Concerts on the Square or during our Saturday Farmers Market. Wednesday Night's concerts are very relaxing and guaranteed to be busy with lots of people. Take your blanket, a bottle of wine, and some eats and kick back and enjoy. You will find people with... There is nothing quite like Wednesday Concerts on the Square with the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra. If your planning a picnic on the grass you will have to get your blanket down shortly after 3PM to get a spot...many people attend if the weather is good, like THOUSANDS.... Concerts start at 7 but get in the area before 5 to find... More

Madison audiences care about the music. So if you choose to sit on the square, you may be shushed for any talking during the music. This helps make it a nice crowd event. People behaving! Bring a picnic or pick up a boxed dinner. Beverages permitted! The Chamber Orchestra is very good and it's a lovely event for five weeks... More

FREE to anyone, this annual event runs a few weeks through the summer months, always on Wednesday evenings. Enjoy the music on the lawn of the State Capitol Building (and have some wine with your picnic.) Highly rated, even for non-symphony lovers.

I used to go to the Concerts on the Square regularly, maybe 10-15 years ago, but over the years, I have gradually gone less frequently to almost never now. Too much a good thing is not always wonderful and it really knows what it is now and really has lost any charm or uniqueness it once had. It's down to... More
