Okay so let's say you were not able to visit NOLA during Mardi Gras, you need to make sure that you come and visit this place. It will show you the past floats and unique creations used for the parade and for Hollywood too! Cool place! It's for all ages. We got lucky to see the float that will be... More

A tour of this facility gets you up close and personal to actual Mardi Gras floats. Their vibrant colors make for excellent picture and the explanations of how they are made will give you a new appreciation of the whole parade experience.

This is a workshop and warehouse for the decorations and floats for Mardi Gras. There's a large gift shop with heaps of NOLA gimrack. Tours include a short film about the history of Mardi Gras, a walk-through of the workshop where they sculpt the fabulous and colorful Mardi Gras "props" - faces, heads, figures that adorn the floats. Then after... More

What a fun and interesting place!! If you have any interest in art, and its intersection with Mardi Gras, stop here!! The pieces stored here are phenomenal, and adults and kids alike will love the sights.

This place was kinda cool, but it wasn't the best. I don't feel it was worth the price. The floats and sculptures are kind of run down and a bit creepy. This place certainly wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either.

Enjoyed seeing some of the floats and the items they use on it, but it was all crammed into a warehouse and much of the items weren't visible. Still, good experience as this is something you won't see elsewhere. A bit over-priced, I thought, considering you are limited to what you can see.

Marci Gras world provides a free shuttle as this is located in the port area. If you always wanted to know how those large floats are constructed, this answers all your questions. The tour guides are knowledgeable, you taste the kingmaker. And try on costumes for your own photos . The tour lasts an hour but you can stay and... More

To begin with, they say a shuttle will pick you up. After calling for the shuttle, we waited without anywhere to sit for about 15-20 minutes, only to have the shuttle drive right by us without stopping. So we called and waited another 15-20 minutes for the shuttle to return. The people who work at the museum in the gift... More

I have never been to Mardi Gras and always wondered what it would feel like to be up close to the floats. Mardi Gras World gave me exactly what I was looking for. Very informative and and a lot of fun. Be sure to bring your camera.

Cool place to visit. The film was informative. They served us king cake. The tour was about an hour long.

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
