Had dinner and attended a jazz show. Walked in off of the street around 630. Wait for table so we are at the bar. Had a cup of gumbo that was amazing. Entree was fish marigny. Lightly fried with a great cream sauce. Bartender, Janine was a true delight. She was personable, real, and authentic as well as helpful and... More

While the musicians on our visit were good, we were expecting Dixieland or New York style, but that's not what you'll get here. It's rated very high, so we got tickets in advance. The room was moderately full at the 8:00 show on a Monday. On the bright side, the wait staff and bartender were very good. There is a... More

We got tickets to the Uptown Jazz Orchestra - Delfeayo Marsalis band. The music was beyond great. We were mesmerized and they put on a terrific and entertaining show. This may have been our highlight of our entire trip to New Orleans.

I highly recommend Snug Harbor for the Jazz. We did not eat there, so I can't review the food. The front area is a restaurant and bar. The music venue is a separate theatre in the back with small tables and a waitress that serves drinks. There was not much drinking going on. There is an admission fee and tickets... More

The music, the vibe, the ambiance, and the acoustics are consistently fantastic, and the crowd seems to reflect the laid-back nature of the place. Davell Crawford was amazing, and I have never seen anyone look more like they were born with an instrument in their hand than the bassist Chris Severin. Also, his mother and cousin were in the crowd... More

Everyone likes a steak how they like it..I like mine medium rare. Now if I was in the Northeast I can get this or Imake it myself. So I tried my luck amd damn! Perfect! It was the best filet mignon I have had in a very long and perfectly prepared just like I like it. The only reason I... More

The Concierge of the Hotel has suggested me the Restaurant and Jazz Club. An amazing place, with amazing music and food. I suggest that You reserve or buy in advance. It's a small place and usually busy. A "must do" activity in New Orleans for music lovers.

The entire service staff is rude and disrespectful. The hostess seemed a little upset when a group of 8 of us came in for dinner on a Tuesday evening. Once we finally got sat, a boy came over with some bread and said our server would be with us in a moment. 10 minutes later we still haven't been greeted... More

My husband and I come here at least once a year and when we are lucky enough to be able to hear bassist James Singleton (and this time with percussionist Mike Dillon), we consider ourselves blessed by the jazz gods. The recent concert was beyond our expectations. So grateful for true jazz club where people actually go to listen and... More

Had the best experience of our trip at Snug Harbor. Previously took in a jazz band on Bourbon Street which was okay, but found the true heart of New Orleans music on Frenchmen Street. Started off by having a nice meal in the restaurant area, then had tickets to see Delfeayo Marsalis And The Uptown Jazz Orchestra. The music venue... More

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
