Fun place to visit, especially with a guided tour (we took Two Chick's) so you can get some history behind the cemetery.

This cemetery is in the Garden District and in a safe area. There were a lot of people touring it when we visited and we felt safe. I visited another cemetery(St. Louis?) last time we visited and we didn't stay-felt very vulnerable.

And folks are still being interred here, as we found when we visited and a veteran was being laid to rest. Interesting memorial park. Quiet place to meditate.

Visiting an older cemetery is a must do while in New Orleans; their burials are very unique to this area. This cemetery is where they filmed Double Jeopardy. Even on a sunny nice day it has such an odd feeling. Take a tour if you...More

This cemetery isn't far from Commander's Palace. There are often tour guides outside, men selling cold water which is great for hot days. There is plenty of restoration going on here and is a peaceful place to visit. We did our tour with Save our...More

I would concur with the four responses above on every note. Don't even bother with a tour here. You can find info on the internet about specific graves within the cemetary if you like.
