It was so nice to visit this park in the middle of our trip. It's very well-maintained and seemed to be packed with locals. Bird Island is impressive, and it's crazy how many turtles, ducks, etc. that we saw lounging in the sun without a care in the world for all of the people who were there. Such a nice... More

Off the St. Charles Streetcar line near Loyola and Tulane Campuses. Went there, walked through park and down to Magazine Street for stroll back to hotel. The neighborhoods are splendid around the park as well.

My sister and I came to NOLA for a birthday week. We run primarily for exercise and were in need of a safe place to run outside. Audubon park was a great place to run! There were numerous people/families out walking/running. It was well shaded with trees, so it's was a good place to run in the LA heat. Also,... More

Audubon Park was the perfect spot for a picnic and playing frisby. We did not sit at the picnic benches, though, b/c there was a group playing very loud Rap music in an 'amphitheater-like' area near the tables. The park was clean and large. We loved the area closer to Tulane and Loyola.

At the end of a cycle or St Charles RTA ride the park is a very peaceful and relaxing area to walk around.

Having a few extra hours, but limited ability to walk a long distance, I received a recommendation to see Audubon Park. I took the street car to the park and found a nice bench with a good view. I didn't get too far into the park, but was able to get many great pictures and had such a relaxing few... More

Audubon Park is located in the uptown neighbourhood of the city. We got the St Charles streetcar to the park. The lake is nice with lots of fish and some large turtles. Although there are some joggers passing by, the park is very peaceful. Hope this is helpful.

We spent nearly all our outside time in the park. We had four kids in our group and the park was the perfect place to run around. Great walking/biking/jogging paths, very wide. the ponds are great and full of ducks. Definitely spend some time here and look at the amazing trees.

This large city park is just a half hour street car ride from the French Quarter. It is a beautiful place to take a quiet stroll under huge trees along the lake. The park is large enough to contain a zoo and a golf course. It was a nice couple hours respite from the hustle of New Orleans. The ride... More

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighbourhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
