Not what I thought it to be. It was good for meandering for antique shops and getting close to the famous houses though. If you want lively street with color, check out Royal Street in the French Quarter.

My friend and I stayed at an Airbnb called The Place. We saw more than we had planned out! For transportation we took Ubers, Trolley Cars, and buses. We have a long list of places we went: St Louis Cemetary with above-ground graves, World d War II Museum, Jackson park, Cathedrals, bayou boat trip, tour of New Orleans to at least 5 different districts, French Quarter, and the Super Sunday Parade with Native American Tribes dressed up in beautiful hand-made costumes. We are at all local restaurants, no chain restaurants. The food was delicious. There’s more places we went but I don’t want to make this review any longer.

Old part of NOLA. Long street with pay to park is a must. Walk one hour and walk one hour back. Locals go here. Unique shops.

Interesting shopping and restaurants. Away from French Quarter. Recommend The Vintage (restaurant), Funky Monkey (apparel), Terrance Osborne (art), Ruby Slipper (brunch) and Steins (deli). Right off trolley and bus stops.

As part of our tour we were taken through Magazine Street area and talked about all of the various types of homes offered and shown what each one looked like. What a gorgeous area - and it was nice to see all of the Mardi Gras pride throughout.

I love the Magazine Street Antique Mall. I live in New Orleans and everytime I go there, I find exactly what I am looking for for a good price. I used to be in the Junque and Antique business, so I know what I'm talking about.

We always stay at the Monteleone which is right off Bourbon St. If you are in good shape Magazine St. is not too far.

We are in a hotel on St. Charles street. Is magazine street within walking distance or do we need to take the trolly? Do you know of a good place to eat breakfast?

My daughter attends Tulane and lives in a rental on Magazine Street. I really feel she is in the safest place she can be. Magazine Street is beautiful and quiet for the most part. The restaurants and bars seem to be very respectful of the neighborhood. It's my favorite Street in New Orleans and the restaurants and shops are great.

Since you will be in the French quarter you will definitely need to either Uber or take the St Charles street car to the Garden District. Magazine street parallels St Charles so just ask the driver which stop you should get off. There's tons of great eateries and cute shops all up and down Magazine street so it's definitely worth visiting!
Hi I'm planning on taking a trip there just wanted to know if it's safe?

Yes, I feel Magazine Street is very safe. It is not a touristy area as such and quite unlike some of the other areas of New Orleans it is not as noisy and overcrowded. I felt quite safe there and enjoyed every minute. Mind you, I was not there at night.

i would like to to know how to get to where the magazine shopping district is and how to get there from my hotel in the warehouse district area. Only can use public transportation as the streetcar? Also are there coffee shops or restaurants around there also. Thank you!
