I did not buy anything when I visited Quarter Stitch, but it wasn't because I wasn't tempted (I always have a project in my bag.) I stopped in because I can't resist checking out local shops, and was not disappointed. The store is welcoming, the employees friendly, and the needlepoint unexpected. I have never seen so many canvas options in... More

I had this on my travel itinerary, and was looking forward to a visit here, and purchasing some yarn from this shop. I had went to the web site and knew they had home spun yarn. I found a clerk to speak to, and as she was going to look for something for me, some other people came and she... More

I am a new needlepoint enthusiast. I thought I'd look for a project while visiting New Orleans. What an unexpected gem this store is!Beautiful hand painted canvases. Beautiful yarn colors and textures everywhere. I have very contemporary tastes and even found a variety of canvases I liked. Very helpful staff, warm and welcoming. Stacy gave me some key tips on... This small shop has yarn galore, stacked to the ceiling! It is packed with yarns of all skeins and content, from sock yarns to baby yarns, to needlepoint canvases and yarns.

This is a terrific hotel. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent and the "extra's" make this a must stay facility.

Nice, small place, but has a great variety of yarn, notions and needlepoint patterns. I'm a knitter, but they cater to crocheters, spinners and needle pointers. The gal that helped me was so kind, friendly and very helpful. It's often the staff that 'make' it a great experience. She went out of her way to help, find a pattern and... More

This is probably one of the best specialty yarn stores I've visited! The selection is great, especially if you like Malabrigo yarns; there are several of their washes and weights in stock. It is a bit on the pricey side, but these are high-quality yarns, not the kind of stuff you can get at the major craft chains. It's actually... More

I visited The Quarter Stitch a few hours ago and was very pleased. I live in Virginia and the only place you can buy yarn locally is Michael's and Joann's. It is nice to be able to purchase what I consider some higher end yarns. The ladies working were helpful; even assisted me with a pattern. (I chose malabrigo yarn,... More

I don't know anything about knitting or crocheting but my niece loved loved loved this store!!! She spent a while looking around at all the pretty yarns. There were so many different types that she was overwhelmed!!! She said it was neat that there were yarns that weren't made of acrylic - I guess that is what most yarns are... More

I do cross-stitch and needlepoint. Their patterns were beautiful! Very pricey, but it is worth the money due to the quality. Was very happy with their selection. I did not have much interaction with the staff, but they seemed friendly enough!

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
