It's easy to spend a part of a day or even a whole day in the Bywater Neighborhood. This neighborhood has a cool, experimental vibe. There are plenty of eateries, music venues, art spots and interesting things to see. From Dr. Bob's to The Joint, Euclid Records to Frady's, The Bargain Center to New Orleans Center for Creative Arts...there are a... More

I recently stayed with my family in Bywater and answer to old reviews (2012) regarding the safety of the district. We never felt unsafe. Day and night. It is the place where I would go back with great pleasure; As others said, it is not particularly dangerous to walk inside. But it is very residential and rather deserted on the... More

Much to see and do in Bywater … take a walk around, talk to people, stop here and there, see some things, do some things, whatever you feel, this is New Orleans, folks want you to enjoy, visit Parkway Bakery … the best po-boys around, try roast beef w/debris and bloody mary (or two), you will be back. :)

Bywater --- worth a trip if you want good BBQ. You'll find The Joint here, and if you come daytime in nice weather, you might want to check out the new Crescent Park - a reclamation of waterfront that is now available for walking, biking, running.

Lovely bright colors and ironwork on the houses here. Some construction is still ongoing. Close to the Qrtr but quiet in the evenings.

Don't be put off by the area you'll drive through on your way into the Bywater from I-10. Once you're in the neighborhood, you'll find it friendly and fun, and as safe as any urban neighborhood for visitors who respect the place and its residents. I was meeting a friend to stay at the beautiful Lookout Inn, and arrived at... More

Away from the tourist areas and just felt like home-houses, restaurants and pubs all side by side in an avant garde area-just go and be surprised at the lack of tourists and the wonderful vibe down here

The Joint (best BBQ in NOLA), Elizabeth's for brunch (praline bacon), Satsuma (healthy alternative for food... and worth every minute!!), Markey's Bar (awesome bar... watch out for a Saints game there... it can get rowdy!! WHO DAT?!?!), and the jewel of the Bywater.... The... More

Great to just walk around & see an urban area in the process of revitalization. There are lots of junque stores & good restaurants & bars. It is so much better than the Quarter.
