I didn't make to New Orleans before Kermit Ruffins closed his restaurant, so this was the next best thing. I simply had to go especially when I realized it was only four blocks from where we were staying. Unfortunately, our evenings were booked full so we didn't get there for the music. It's a shame. I bet it cooks. We... More

This bar was recommended by our walking tour guide & as we are fans of Kermit we had to go. It was very exciting to see Kermit holding court at the bar & he was very happy to chat. The locals were friendly & we had a few drinks & headed home. We hope to return at night to hear... More

Go here to hang out with locals and revile in the talent of Ernie K Doe. It's a funky place, out of the way and lots' of fun. Don't be afraid to give this place a shot. See you there

NOLA is a big "New Orleans Saints" town. Trumpet player and singer Kermit Ruffins, the hottest act in New Orleans today, had suspended his Sunday gigs at his Treme Mother-In-Law Lounge until the Saints season is over. When we arrived in the city on a Friday, he was out of town playing in NYC. So we could not see him... More

Saw Kermit at another venue the night before, where he invited everyone to his place in the Treme for BBQ and music. Nice locals, great pours, and as close to a private concert with "Kermit Ruffin and the Barbecue Swingers" as you're likely to get. If he's in town he's there every Sunday. $20.00 cover but sooooooo worth it.

We went along expecting another gig, but it was more like a jam session! Kermit Ruffin and the Barbeque Swingers were in fine form, as you'd expect as he pulled musicians from the audience to perform - his regular singer, Brittney Chauntae, Nayo Jones and even a visiting Chinese drummer amongst others. The space is intimate so there's the opportunity... More

This place is awesome. You can feel the history the moment you step inside. Kermit was nice enough to come over and chat with us before the show. He's a really nice guy and makes you feel at home. The Mother-In Law is a very historical place and important to the New Orleans music culture. I highly recommend going here... More

Me and the group I was traveling with, were taken here by a tour guide (Mr. Milton Carr). Instantly upon arriving you are greeted by the huge, beautiful murals on the building The margaritas are awesome and I even briefly met Kermit(more than welcoming and pleasant) who was there at the time. Outside, your nose goes insane, following the smells... More

Not sure how often it's open, but this is where Ernie K Doe would do his magic. Building is something to see.
