We just sampled Custer State Park, but the portion we sampled was gorgeous - national park worthy. We took highway 87 through the Needles. It went by Sylvan Lake, but that was so crowded we just kept going. 87 is slow and winding (10-25 mph...More

Very nice state park. Great loop road. Bison all over the place...close and far. Many other types of animals including pronghorn antelopes, burros and prairie dogs. Take your time, stop at the visitor center and enjoy the movie.

Took the loop early in the morning. Great drive. Saw lots of animals, and not just buffalo. Being it wasn't during peak season, we could take our time and weren't rushed by cars behind us. I would recommend the drive to anyone. Little kids would...More

The park is a nice visit but on Wildlife Road the destruction of the fire erased the enjoyment of the ride. We saw 40 to 50 buffalo, a couple turkeys and some deer and acres and acres of burned trees. I was told about half...More

We had come from yellowstone the previous day, so our hopes were high for Custer. It was nice, but not worth the $20 entrance fee. We saw buffalo, turkeys, and sheep. The needles highway was promised to be pretty, but it was a let down...More
