Our family drove through the park looking for wildlife and scenery and weren't disappointed. The rolling hills and winding roads were beautiful. As we drove we went up to a lookout point to check out the view, which allowed us to see for miles in...More

We loved the wildlife loop. We saw sooo many animals. Of course, seeing the Buffalo was the best. It was a large herd of about 75 and even watched two bulls challenge each other and butt horns. We also saw donkeys, deer, prairie dogs and...More

We booked a tour so we could both enjoy the drive. It is wonderful. We saw buffalo, donkeys, antelope, prairie dogs, turkey and deer. Well worth the money.

We went twice. The first time we saw most of the 1300 bison in the park - 2 very large herds both crossing the road in different parts of the loop. The second time we saw only a few - they must have been over...More

This is a spectacular loop. We went at dusk and saw buffalo, coyote, pronghorn deer and of course lots of prairie dogs. It's a beautiful drive and lots of fun with the kids trying to find animals. We then went back at night to see...More

What a wonderful experience! Custer State Park is glorious and this road won't disappoint. Go early in the morning when the animals are more active. Plenty of bison, antelope, elk, etc. As the day goes on, it will get quite crowded and animals are not...More

We saw antelope, deer, prairie dogs, mules, and hundreds of buffalo/bison. It was well worth the cost of admission.

I drove this loop and saw buffalo, deer, and wild burros - it was wonderful! There were lots of cars, however, and sometimes that took away from the experience.

I was there in late Sept / early Oct - it was amazing. Wildlife everywhere. Pick late Sept and watch the Buffalo Stampede - probably one of the best wildlife experiences you can have. . . .

The loop is part of route 16a. You can stop at any of the lodges and get a map/specific directions. I would recommend signing up for the tour since they take you off the beaten track a couple of times.
