The classic high mountain lake - with a nice trail and an optional 2 hour add on loop if you want to explore the outflow canyon. Take a picnic and eat away from the crowds at the far end of the lake.

The lake was frozen and My friend hiked out to the middle. It was magical covered in snow. I would do this again!

Sylvan Lake is a small, scenic lake inside Custer State Park. There are cabins nearby if you'd like to stay here and there is also a general store where you can pick up a snack and drink to take on the short walk part way around the lake. Take a stroll, enjoy the ducks and geese and even dip a... More

Lake is beautiful with all the rock formations. Would definitely recommend stopping at this lake. There is a nice General Store also.

We walked all around this lake. It was a beautiful day and the lake is really pretty. Would recommend this place to visit while seeing Custer State Park.

Sylvan Lake is very picturesque & the General Store is very well stocked with a great selection of clothing & supplies. Sherry, one of the employees was very accommodating & offered us to fill our water bottles when we stopped during our overnight hike. Refreshing cold water! Thanks Sherry!

Family hike a round lake. The kids loved ir grandparents gave up due to icey steps and rocky climb. Lovely views and easy except for behind the dam spillway.

We enjoyed viewing the lake and taking a hike around it - there was some snow on the ground, so part of our group didn't go all the way around. We seemed to have gone the wrong direction around, so we had quite a bit of scrambling up rocks at one point. Nice, quiet spot to visit.

This is one of the most visited attractions in the area. Also a venue for weddings, as the first time we visited there was a wedding ceremony happening!!
