Amazing highway takes you here

Needles Eye is a great example of nature's beauty. But even more beautiful are the views on the way here on the Needles Highway. A must see.

We were at the park during the off season but it was still difficult to find a parking spot to pull over and view the Needles Eye. I pulled off to the side and my husband walked back to view and take a photo. I only got to see it in a picture and it was magnificent.

Took the drive along Needles highway in two parts. Have nerves of steel to drive it (or a spirit of adventure!) So many gorgeous overlooks, views, and wonders! The needles eye is at the top!

Needles Highway is a necessary component to the full Black Hills tour. This and the Iron Mountain Road, but be careful because large RV's, trailers and SUV's are going to have trouble navigating the narrow passages.

This is a VERY busy place! You do have to pay the $20 fee before driving on the Needles HWY. The fee is good for 7 days, so try to go here as early in the day as possible. The parking area is larger than most, but not enough. If you wait too long in the morning, you'll be stuck.... More

If you are looking for the photo op of the Needles Eye, just park at the lot and walk over, otherwise just look out from the car window. It's a very popular scenic destination and there are people doing a small amount of rock climbing, but over all there are so many other great places to stop and see.

Needles is a geological wonder of the earth. The rock formations are really mind blowing and driving through the tunnel was quite hairy but great.

This is a must see road. We drove it from Crazy Horse. Go slow, take photos, enjoy the view. We had to stop for the white rammed sheep that crossed the road. Deer here are like "New York pigeons" back home. They are everywhere
