We flew in and out of Kalaupapa on Makani Kai Airlines and made use of Damien Tours while on the peninsula. Kalaupapa is beautiful and memorable for its incredible sea cliffs and its tragic history. The stories of the patients and their caregivers (Fr. Damien,...More

This was a very interesting trip to see Father Damien's work among the Hansen's Disease patients. We hiked down the trail with beautiful views of the valley below and took the educational tour of the facilities with a guide in a van. The mule ride...More

The tour was informative, but if you take the fly in-fly out version from Oahu, you'll spend as much time waiting in the airport as you spend on the tour. Also, note that Father Damien Tours does not control seats on the airplane to and...More

I have lived in Hawaii all my life and this is the first time I visited Kalaupapa. What an experience! The peninsula is a beautiful untouched locale with breathtaking cliffs and seashores. There are many wild animals there -- deer, pigs, goats, etc. But over...More

If you decide to make only one major adventure off the beaten path while in Hawaii, I suggest that this be the one. I've heard about Kalaupapa all of my life but have until now have never been here. This despite the fact that I...More

Highlight of our trip to Hawaii. We loved going here. Can't wait to go back someday. We took the plane ride down to the Peninsula. It was well worth it.
