The actual old village is gone. Now there is low income housing and that for the most part is not cared for. The village has no electricity or running water. The park does have a facility.

There were allot of abandoned cars scattered along the road. The buildings were very run down. We just got the stink eye ase drove through the village. Not a friendly place. A ver nerrow road, & many locals towing and launching small boats.

The winding 5 mile road from Highway 11 to Miloli'i is scenic enough to warrant the side trip, but the city park at the ocean's edge is poorly maintained and signage clearly indicates that community resources cannot be directed at making this spot inviting.

We found this beach on our first day of exploration. As with many of Hawaii's beaches, it is very out-of-the-way. There was a shelter house with no facilities. A few places to wade. Rocky otherwise.

Nice tide pools to check out. Seems like a good place for kids, but watch for glass. Not a large beach until you hike back along the trail. That leads to the nice beach if you want privacy. Pretty spot.

Off the beaten path, with a windy drive down the hillside and a 20 minute hike along the coast, you find a beautiful and isolated black sand beach with a glimpse into local Hawaiian life.

This place is a mixture of old and new Hawaii and you can tell where you are. The older part is old Hawaii and feels a little like being on the rez. The beach is perfect for small children but the drive to get there...More

We stayed in this area in a VRBO rental. Great ocean views and sunsets, quiet. If you're trying to get away from the city, this is a great place to be. It is FAR from Kona--about an hour drive--but gave us good access to the...More

Renting a Vacation Rental in Miloli'i is definitely AWAY from most civilization. It's beautiful, peaceful and generally perfect weather. The drive to 2 step or South Point is very short.

A mid-tide should be fine unless the surf has moved the shore around. The bad news is the outbreak of the Dengue fever from mosquitoes in South Kona so maybe you should head up north to beaches up there. Some areas there... More

WE have friends staying at a house near the ocean this month and live up in Captain Cook. I was just in Escondido in June. Where is your house here?
